Betting on the NBA Playoffs

Last Call for Betting on Basketball

So it's that time of year again.  NCAA March Madness has come and gone, the NBA regular season has finished and the NBA playoffs are underway.  Finally, players will begin to show some emotion and put forth some effort on defence--if you regularly follow the NBA, you're surely as frustrated as I am with the final month of the NBA season every year (and the balance of your sport book account is probably just as frustrated!).  Teams throw in the towel and basically abandon defence.  Betting on the NBA becomes a mine-field, and it's a struggle to hang on.  That period has thankfully passed, and we are into the NBA Playoffs--and that means we can get back to identifying solid money-making opportunities.

Home Sweet Home

I'm not sure if there is a professional sports league in existence where the results of games are so heavily influenced by which team is playing at home.  It's incredible, really.  A team will win the first two games of the playoff series at home by an average of 20+ points, then go on the road for game three and lose by 10.  I have no explanation for it--this is a job for the finest psychiatric minds and mine certainly isn't one of them.  I do, however, know a good betting opportunity when I see one, and when the NBA playoffs begin--I see one.

My Advice

My tips for betting on the NBA are pretty simple--bet on the home teams to cover the spread.  Granted, it's not as simple as blindly betting on the home team for every game on every night, but that simple strategy is how I start.  Take a look at the games for the night and rank the home teams by their recent performance, past results against their opponent as well as any other motivating factors you can find in your research.  Then go ahead and log into your sport book account and place your bet(s) accordingly.  This is not a fool-proof method, of course, but if you follow this simple strategy, you will have an advantage.
